• Over 50 golf courses can be found in and around Orange City, from the most basic of courses to some of the most challenging and grandest courses in the state. Just down the road from Orange City in Orlando are the Arnold Palmer Bay Hill Golf Club and the Orange County National Golf Center, home to some of the finest golf courses in the state.
•View the numerous state parks and fresh water springs from the air in a hot air balloon. Several hot air balloon companies operate in and around Orange City, offering scenic tours of the area.
•Water sports abound in the area. Fish, swim, canoe or kayak in one of the many fresh water springs. Take a scenic tour down the St. John’s River, either by boat or by canoe or kayak.
  • Shuffleboard enthusiasts can enjoy the 16 lighted shuffleboard courts at the Orange City Shuffleboard Complex, home to the Orange City Shuffleboard Club and numerous local and regional tournaments.
 
  • On Saturday mornings, residents can be found at the Orange City Farmer’s Market in Orange City or down the road at the Volusia County Farmer’s Market in DeLand.
 
  • Quaint antique and specialty shops are aplenty in and around Orange City. And major retail and outlet malls can also be found in the larger cities that surround Orange City.  
  Attractions  
  Two dominating themes can be found in attractions in and around Orange City – history
and natural beauty.
 
  Blue Springs State Park is a 518-acre manatee refuge located in the heart of Orange City. Named Florida’s best manatee observation point, Blue Spring produces 105 million gallons of crystal clear water a day. Each winter, this warm water refuge becomes home to a growing population of West Indian Manatees. And during the spring and summer months, Blue Springs’ crystal clear, 72-degree water can be enjoyed by those adventurers who want to fish, canoe or kayak, or scuba dive in the beautiful waters.  
  • Located in the Blue Springs State Park is the Louis P. Thursby House. This historic home was added to the U.S. National Register of Historic Places in 2000. The house was originally built in 1872 by Louis Thursby and his family, the first settlers in the spring area.  
  • Wealthy steamboat line owner Frederick DeBary built the DeBary Hall Historic Site in DeBary as a hunting retreat in 1871. The restored mansion offers interpretive exhibits, providing a glimpse of early Florida lifestyle.  
  • For scholars, Stetson University, founded in 1883, is Florida’s first private university. Located just down the road from Orange City in DeLand, the campus is part of the city’s beautiful historic district, listed on the National Register of Historic Places.  
  Recreation  
  • Orange City operates 65 acres of parks with an array of amenities including nature walking trails, shuffleboard courts, sports fields, jogging trails, lighted tennis courts and picnic pavilions. One ofVolusia County’s largest parks is also located in Orange City, PFC Emory L. Bennett Veterans Memorial Park.  
  • St. John’s River, famed for its bass fishing, links magnificent parks with wildlife preserves along the county’s western border, just west of Orange City.  
  • Other springs in the area include the 210-acre Gemini Springs and the DeLeon Springs State Park. Fishing and canoeing are allowed at Gemini Springs where 72-degree fresh water bubbles up from the two springs daily. Swimming is allowed at the DeLeon Springs State Park, along with fishing and boating.
